Use Object View in the platform

You can access Object View from various points in Foundry, particularly in Workshop and Object Explorer. With the appropriate permissions, you can configure Object View in Control Panel to customize layout, visibility, and more.

Configure Object View

The permissions required to edit the Object View for an object type depend upon whether the object type uses Ontology Roles:

  • If the object type does not use Ontology Roles, a user must have the Object View Admin application permission in Control Panel as well as the Editor role on the object type's input datasources.
  • If the object type uses Ontology Roles, the user only requires the Ontology Editor role on the object type.

Configuration options include changing the tabs and widgets within the view and customizing the layout and conditional visibility. By default, an object view starts with a configuration based on the object type definition in the Ontology.

Administrators can also use Control Panel to configure profiles to use in Object View. Profiles allow users to view object information relevant to their role.
