✅ What you learned

  • The Foundry Ontology is a customizable “digital twin” of the entities, events, and processes that are important to an organization.
  • Ontology object types are backed by a Foundry dataset that is typically the target of a scheduled pipeline. Its rows represent individual objects (of that type) and its columns are translated into object properties.
  • Object Explorer is Foundry’s application for searching and visualizing object types and Object Views.
  • Data Lineage enables us to visualize the links between object types in the context of a broader data pipeline.
  • Ontologies can be updated once deployed, but starting out with a well-reasoned framework based on best practices listed in the Foundry documentation will reduce unnecessary complexity and accelerate value generation.
