12 - Creating and Saving Your Object List

This content is also available at learn.palantir.com ↗ and is presented here for accessibility purposes.

You currently have a set of objects in your exploration that you may want to monitor or use as the starting point for further action. There are two ways to preserve the contents of your searching and filtering. In this task, you’ll save your results as a List.

A list is a static group of objects that meet the conditions at the moment the list is created. Let’s create a list of the ~3 aircraft objects currently subject to our filter.

🔨 Task Instructions

  1. Select Save in the top right of the screen.
  2. In the window, select to save your object as a List.
  3. Your list will be saved as a Foundry resource you and your colleagues can search for and access in a shared location. Enter any desired name in the List name field.
  4. Provide a short description in the Description field (for example, “List of active Frontier aircraft on May 4, 2022 linked to delays > 60 min”).
  5. You can keep your list private or as public as you would like. If you save it as Private, the resource will be stored in your home folder (such as “Your Files”). If you save it as Public, it will be accessible to any user with the Viewer role on the location you designate. In this case, save it as Public.
  6. At the bottom of your save window, select the Select a public project to save in option.
  7. If you've already created a personal sandbox folder for use during tutorials, navigate to that folder. (Throughout this navigation, note that you will need to click on the Choose specific location in the bottom left of the window to open a folder within a project, for example, not on the Select project option.)
  8. Once you are in your personal folder within this project, click the blue Select save location button.
  9. Verify the save location at the bottom of the window and click the blue Save button. The resource will be saved in a new folder called Object Lists.

You’ve walked through a basic example of saving a list below, but we recommend taking a moment to read this brief documentation entry on saving and accessing shared lists.
