📖 Task Introduction

Your inbox application users may want to get additional information on a flight alert before triaging or taking action. One way to add more detail to your module without overcrowding the page is to place those details in an Overlay that users can trigger to open using Workshop’s Events framework.

There are many number of items you could place in an overlay, including Workshop’s native charts, metrics, or maps. You can also seamlessly bring in other Foundry applications that work with the Ontology. You’ll embed the Quiver dashboard you generated in the previous tutorial into your Workshop module, further opening the interoperability toolkit to take advantage of the integrated nature of Ontology aware apps.

🔨 Task Instructions

  1. In the contents panel on the left side of your screen, click the Layout button which will reveal your Layout panel. Click the button next to the Layout header.
  2. Select New Overlay from the list. An overlay layer with two empty sections is added to your contents list and your center module pane.
  3. In the drawer configuration panel on the right, change the LAYER NAME from Overlay 1 to Overlay: Flight Alert Context.
  4. You’ll want to provide plenty of space for your Quiver analysis, so change the Overlay SIZE of your widget from Standard to Large.
  5. You’ll only need a single section in the overlay, so click into the top section and then on the red “trash” icon in the upper right of your module screen to remove the unneeded element.
