13 - Exploring your Object and Link Types in Data Lineage

Let’s review your object and link types with their backing “pipeline” in the Data Lineage application. Having a snapshot of your data world is useful for maintenance and project coordination purposes. We could open Data Lineage from the workspace sidebar, but we can also pivot to the application directly from Object Explorer.

🔨 Task Instructions

  1. Using the application sidebar on the left side of your screen, open Object Explorer. Then search for the [yourName] Flight Alert object type using the main search bar near the center of your screen and open the [yourName] Flight Alert object type. Then, using the sidebar listing individual objects of this object type on the right side of your Exploration view, open one of the [yourName] Flight Alert objects.
  2. From your Object View, click on the "More" menu near the top-right corner of the screen, then the ... option from that menu.
  3. Then select Explore data lineage.
  4. Using what you know about Data Lineage, begin to expand the links between object types, datasets, and artifacts. It might look something like this:
