11 - Search around for Linked Objects

📖 Task Introduction

Recall that an Ontology link is a relationship between objects that has been configured in the Ontology Manager's Link Type View. Starting from objects already on your map, you can traverse Ontology relationships and add linked objects to your map by using a Search Around. In this task, you'll search for and display route objects linked to the SEA airport object already on your map.

🔨 Task Instructions

  1. Right click on the SEA object on your map.

  2. Hover over the Search Around options from the menu window. It may take a few seconds for the available linked object types to populate.

As you can see, there are multiple configured link types of [Example Data] Flight and [Example Data] Route — one for each route direction.

  3. Choose [Example Data] Arriving Route from the Search Around list.

  4. Open the Layers panel to see that your map now has an [Example Data] Routes layer.

  5. Mouse over [Example Data] Routes in the Layers helper, and click on the "paintbrush" (i.e., Edit styling) button to the right.

  6. Choose Origin Coordinates in the Geometry selector to get the same Map as below.
