15 - Add an Expression Board

📖 Task Introduction

In addition to its visual tools like the Histogram and Chart, Contour also offers an Expression Board that lets you use common expression language to derive new columns, perform sophisticated filtering, use CAST and CASE statements, obtain complex aggregations, and many other functions.

• When using the expression editor, click the ? icon for a quick reference of the expression syntax.
• As you type, suggested functions appear in a dropdown. Click or use the Enter key to select desired functions.

🔨 Task Instructions

1. In the Board toolbar, click on the Transform category, then select the Expression board.

   

2. Within the Expression Board, depending on your configuration of Foundry, you may see a Write new expression option. If you do, choose the option before proceeding to the next task. If you do not see this option, simply proceed to the next task.
