Learning Objective Coverage

  1. Review primary data types available for analysis in Foundry.

    • Tabular data
    • Ontology data
  2. Choose the optimal Foundry applications for desired analytical outcomes.

    • Contour
    • Code Workbook
    • Object Explorer
    • Quiver
  3. Check on the lineage, freshness, usage, and health of the following Foundry data types:

    • Tabular
    • Ontology
    • Geospatial
    • Time series

What you learned

  • Object and link types are backed by (i.e., mapped to) tabular Foundry datasets using the following rubric:
    • When backing datasets update as part of a data pipeline, the data is automatically synchronized to the Ontology backend.
  • Foundry's Ontology Manager is the application used to create, update, and configure object and link types as well as other Ontology capabilities.
  • In addition to other recommended health checks, backing datasets should have the Sync Status and Sync Freshness checks installed to monitor the synchronization between the backing dataset and the Ontology storage service.
  • One place to check for the date of the last sync is in the Sync status section of the Dataset Preview's Details tab.
  • Object Explorer and Quiver are the two primary applications for point-and-click Ontology data analysis and dashboard generation in Foundry.
