Foundry enables you and your colleagues to represent your organization's assets, events, and processes as unique objects, links, and actions in the Ontology. It dynamically synchronizes your data with digital representations of real-world resources that are important to you. As you'll see, this unlocks connectivity between data, analytic, and operational systems. See the image below for a visual overview of the way the Ontology makes use of tabular data and models and enables powerful operational workflows.

In subsequent tutorials, you'll have more opportunities to explore Ontology concepts at a deeper level. This exercise will provide a brief introduction so that you understand how and why it is relevant for data analysts.

Review the following two documentation articles, which summarize the concepts and value of the Foundry Ontology. The rest of the tutorial will assume familiarity with these terms and concepts.
