The Dataset Preview application is one way to view tabular data in Foundry. After reading the selection below, you'll preview a Foundry dataset in more depth.

In this documentation entry, you'll learn some of the features of the Dataset Preview application that help analysts understand the detailed composition and history of Foundry datasets.

🔨 Task Instructions

Open your Foundry Enrollment in a new tab or window. In this exercise, you'll answer questions by viewing data in Foundry. You won't need to edit anything, or create a copy, or otherwise use your personal sandbox folder in your /Temporary Training Artifacts/ project for this.

  1. Open the flights dataset in the following location: /Foundry Training and Resources/Example Data/Aviation Ontology

  2. Using what you learned in the reading above, answer the following questions about the dataset using the Dataset Preview application. The answers are provided in the next lesson.

    • How many files comprise this dataset?
    • When was the last successful transaction that assembled these files into a coherent dataset?
    • What transaction type created the current view?
    • What is the most common destination for flights?
