It’s all about the mission
Spend five minutes talking to anyone who works at Palantir and you’ll probably hear the word ‘mission’ bandied about. When you hear mission, think making the world a better place – helping our users solve their hardest, most pressing problems. This mission is what makes the opportunity to work at Palantir unique. We do this by writing software, software that enables effective data analysis against complicated, data-driven problems – but the software is a means to an end.
Palantir’s current customers are a mix of government agencies, financial institutions, and non-profits. Collectively, their impact on the world is so large it’s difficult to measure. Here are some examples, drawn from real Palantir customers, just some of the types of problems we work on:
- Tracing back foodborne illness
- Epidemic Outbreak Monitoring
- Rapid-reaction to child abduction cases
- Tracking down IED-making cells
- Reducing fraud in online banking
- Unraveling the shape of cyber-espionage botnets
- Finding patterns of predatory lending in the sub-prime mortgage market
- Understanding the demographics and motivations of insurgent groups
Pro-Bono Work
As a company and individuals, we care deeply about leaving the world in better shape than we found it. We’re lucky to work on software that can provide immediate benefit against any sort of data problem, public or private. We’ve created a program to help out organizations that have the mandate and the data to make a difference. Palantir donates software, consulting, and funds to organizations working on problems that we think are important to solve. Some of our pro bono beneficiaries include:
- National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation
- Humanity United
- US Holocaust Memorial Museum
- The Daniel Pearl Project
- Institute for the Study of War
